Success story of Deutsche Technikberatung (DTB) at SPACELAB

DTB-Success-story

Want to know more about the successs story of DTB?

With the help of the Media-Saturn tech accelerator SPACELAB, “Deutsche Technik Beratung” was not only able to successfully pilot its product with Europe’s leading consumer electronics retailer, but also receive a follow up investment of METRO AG – An accelerator success story:

In September 2015 Gabriele Riedmann de Trinidad, Group Director of Business Innovation, METRO AG, discovered Deutsche Technikberatung (DTB) at the Pirate Summit start-up event in Cologne. Following an insightful first touch point, DTB was invited to SPACELAB’s pre-accelerator competing against a number of other start-ups. Four of them were selected for the first batch of the SPACELAB accelerator program in November 2015. Emre and Till, the founders of DTB, managed to convince the jury with their business idea and were happy to receive funding, expertise and scale from the Media-Saturn Holding (MSH) during the 16-week accelerator program. Moreover, DTB was introduced to the MSH family including supplier meetings and multiple C-level executives.

As part of SPACELAB’s curriculum, DTB had the chance to work together with internal and external mentors and partners. Moreover, DTB gained invaluable insights from industry experts during multiple workshops. Starting with a workshop covering market analysis hosted by GFK, financial knowledge was shared by Ernst & Young’s audit and taxation experts. Furthermore, Serviceplan helped to improve DTB’s branding and positioning, while Gravity inspired the application of UX design. Google shared knowledge on SEA and SEO and our friends from Acton Capital together with ProSiebenSat.1, Roehrborn and the High-Tech Gründerfonds, covered topics including funding, legal and finance in one extensive workshop. Besides that, DTB internally received professional PR-coaching and consulting from the Media-Saturn Holding, enabling press events with the management and high-profile media coverage in Handelsblatt, Süddeutsche Zeitung and Gründerszene.

With a market-ready product, DTB managed to test it in a pilot project in Germany’s oldest Saturn store in Cologne. In the course of 12 weeks, vouchers for discounted DTB services were handed out to Saturn customers. As this promotion turned out to be a success, the campaign was extended to another 12 stores in the wider Cologne area. With a high conversion and customer retention rate, not only the campaign but also the entire SPACELAB accelerator program was a great success for the DTB which reached its interim climax with a follow-up investment by METRO AG.
